On May 24, 1981, in southern Ecuador a plane carrying the president, the minister of defense, their spouses crashed into the slopes of a mountain. The crash left no survivors. President Jaime Roldós and his wife Martha Bucaram de Roldós and Minister of Defense Marco Subía Martínez and his
